  • What’s the best way to store and take care of Hanfu?

Hanfu is so beautiful, but also kinda… High maintenance? I’m scared of ruining mine just by existing near it. Some fabrics wrinkle so easily, and i have no idea how to fold them properly without creases. And don’t even get me started on the delicate embroidery—i feel like one wrong move and poof, it’s ruined forever.

How do you guys store your Hanfu to keep it in good shape? Are there any special hangers, garment bags, or tricks for keeping them looking nice? Also, what’s the best way to clean them without damaging the fabric?

Taking care of Hanfu can feel like a bit of a chore, but it’s actually pretty simple once you know the basics:

Storage: Always store your Hanfu in a cool, dry place to avoid any moisture or dust buildup. For delicate fabrics like silk, garment bags are a great option to protect them from dust and potential damage. Hanging them on padded hangers is also a good idea to prevent creases.

Wrinkle care: To avoid wrinkles, steam your Hanfu instead of ironing it. This helps preserve the fabric and any embroidery. If you do need to iron it, use a low setting and a cloth between the iron and the fabric to avoid any direct heat damage.

Cleaning: For everyday fabrics, hand wash your Hanfu with mild detergent and cold water. For more delicate fabrics like silk, it’s best to dry clean them. Always check the care instructions for the specific fabric of your Hanfu before cleaning.

It may seem like a lot of work at first, but once you get into the routine of storing and caring for it, your Hanfu will stay looking great for a long time!

Fold it neat or hang it—silk hates creases, so use padded hangers. Air it out after wearing, and spot-clean stains ASAP. Keeps it fresh for years!

Uh, I just fold mine and shove it in a drawer? Maybe don’t wash it too much—heard that ruins the fancy stuff.

Store it flat in a box with some tissue paper, keeps the shape nice. Gentle hand-wash for silk, no rough stuff—treat it like a treasure!
