  • What Hanfu should I wear to attend a wedding?

Posted by ChasingHorizons on February 26, 2025 at 11:59 am

Hello, everyone! I want to wear Hanfu to a wedding, but I’m not sure which style would be appropriate. Should I go for a classic dark-colored Hanfu, or would a brighter color be more suitable? I’m not sure about wedding customs and what’s considered appropriate for Hanfu at weddings. Any suggestions on color or style?

For weddings, it’s important to keep the occasion in mind. Classic, deep colors like red, gold, or purple are considered very auspicious and appropriate. However, you can also wear lighter colors if they’re seen as lucky or festive. When in doubt, go for a more elegant and simple style, avoiding overly complicated or dark designs, as they might look too somber for a wedding.

Go festive—red Ruqun with gold embroidery screams celebration. Keep it light, maybe a Qixiong skirt, so you’re not tripping all night!

Tang-style Daxiushan in red or pink—flowy and wedding-ready. Add a floral hairpin for that extra pop!
