• Is Hanfu Too Hot for Summer?

Is wearing Hanfu in summer really too hot? I know some Hanfu is made of silk, but I feel like that material will make me sweat a lot. Are there lighter styles for summer? I prefer simple and breathable fabrics, and I don’t want to feel like I’m in a giant fridge. What materials do you recommend for wearing Hanfu in summer?

For summer, go for lightweight and breathable materials like linen, cotton, or bamboo fabric. These materials allow your skin to breathe and help wick away sweat, so you won’t feel as hot as with silk. Linen and cotton are cooler options and are more comfortable for hot weather. Simple, minimalist designs also work well in summer, avoiding heavy layers and ensuring comfort.

Ditch the layers! Go for single-layer styles like zhi-shen or banbi. Less fabric = less swampy back syndrome.

Light colors only! Black Hanfu in July? You’ll roast like a duck. Pastels or white reflect heat (and Instagram sunlight).
