I’m a little on the shorter side, and I’m worried wearing Hanfu will make me look even smaller. I still want to wear it and look good, but are there any tips or styles that make short people look taller in Hanfu? I just don’t want to feel like I’m drowning in fabric!

If you’re shorter, I totally get the concern that wearing Hanfu might make you look even smaller or just drown you in fabric! But don’t worry, there are definitely ways to rock Hanfu and still look tall. First, go for high-waisted styles—these will make your legs look longer, and trust me, it makes a huge difference! Try to avoid really bulky fabrics; lighter ones like silk or soft cotton are perfect because they don’t add too much weight. Also, a slim-fit Hanfu that gently follows your body shape can make you look taller without swamping you. If you need to layer up, just keep it light and simple—nothing too thick or heavy, like a delicate jacket or vest. You’ve got this—Hanfu can totally work for shorter folks, you just have to choose the right styles!

High-waist skirts—Qixiong’s a lifesaver, stretches you out. Short layers, no floor-length drama!

Slim Song fits—less bulk. Hair up, long sash—pulls the eye up!
