  • How to find your Hanfu style without overcomplicating it?

Posted by Cali-Jo on March 2, 2025 at 1:44 pm

Hanfu has so many different styles, and honestly, i feel overwhelmed. There are different dynasties, different silhouettes, different ways to accessorize… And i have no idea where to start.

I don’t want to spend hours stressing over whether i’m doing it “right” Or choosing the “correct” Style—i just want to find something that suits me and feels comfortable. For those of you who have been wearing Hanfu for a while, how did you figure out your personal Hanfu style without making it overly complicated?

Honestly, don’t stress about getting the perfect style right away. Here’s how to figure out what works for you without overthinking it:

Explore different styles: Don’t worry about picking the “right” Dynasty or style—go with what feels right for you. Maybe you love the elegance of the tang dynasty or the simple, flowing look of the han style. Whatever speaks to you, start there.

Go for simple pieces: When you’re starting out, don’t dive into the really intricate designs. Go for something basic and simple, like a tunic with a flowing skirt. Once you feel comfortable, you can experiment with more complex styles.

Fabric and fit: Focus on comfort—choose breathable fabrics like cotton or silk blends and make sure the fit feels good. Once you’ve got the basics down, you can start layering more pieces or trying new accessories.

Don’t feel like you have to get it perfect right away. Just enjoy the journey of figuring out what suits you best.

Start simple—pick a basic Ruqun and play with colors you like. Don’t stress the details, just vibe with it!

Uh, maybe try a two-piece set first? Stick to what feels cool to you and skip the crazy layers.

Find a dynasty vibe you dig—like Tang or Song—then grab a piece that fits your mood. Keep it minimal, build from there!
