• Can you wear Hanfu for exercise?

I was thinking about trying to wear Hanfu while working out, but i’m not sure if that’s even practical. I mean, can you actually wear Hanfu for a workout or at the gym, or is that a no-go? I don’t want to ruin it or look ridiculous. Should i avoid wearing it if i’m doing anything active? Or is there a way to make it work? If anyone’s tried it, i’d love to hear how it went.

It might sound fun to wear Hanfu while doing activities, but let’s be real—Hanfu isn’t really meant for exercise. The multiple layers and flowing design can really restrict movement, so it’s not practical for workouts or anything active. Trying to run or stretch in long sleeves or a layered outfit can be a hassle.

Also, Hanfu is usually made from delicate fabrics like silk, which aren’t designed to handle sweat or intense physical activity. It could get damaged or stained easily with exercise.

So, while Hanfu is gorgeous, it’s best to stick with something more flexible and sweat-friendly for exercise. But if you’re just casually stretching or doing light walking, a simple Hanfu might be okay, just don’t expect it to keep up during a workout.

Yeah, you can totally exercise in hanfu! Stick to loose stuff like a Daoist robe or wide-sleeve Ruqun—nothing tight or heavy. I’ve done tai chi in mine, works like a charm.

Uh, exercise in hanfu? I guess if it’s stretchy and not too long, maybe? I’d trip over a fancy skirt for sure—stick to simple tops and pants!

Oh, absolutely—hanfu’s got roots in movement! Go for a short Shan or comfy Beizi, kinda like ancient martial artists. Feels epic and functional.

Sure, why not? I’d pick something light and flowy—maybe a Qixiong top with pants. Just don’t try running in those crazy long robes!

Exercise in hanfu? Sounds wild, but maybe a loose jacket and skirt could work. I’d probs sweat too much in the fancy ones tho.
