Absolutely, a short modern aoqun is basically everyday clothes with extra elegance. I do it all the time.

I wore a simple Song-style top + skirt to the supermarket last weekend, got a few smiles, but nobody treated me like I was cosplaying.

Just don’t go full Tang dramatic sleeves, my friend once got her sleeve caught in the cart wheel and almost took out a whole aisle of snacks 😂
