What’s the difference between hanfu and qipao? My friend said they’re both “Chinese dresses”…
1 Comment-
Hanfu = ancient styles (like Tang or Ming Dynasty robes), while qipao is a 1920s Shanghai-era dress with a fitted silhouette! Both iconic, but totally different vibes.

I’m not Chinese but obsessed with hanfu. Will people think I’m appropriating culture?
-
Nope! Most Chinese folks love seeing others embrace hanfu respectfully. Just learn its history and avoid treating it as a costume. Welcome to the hanfu fam!

Why do some hanfu sleeves drag on the floor? Is that historical or just for drama flair?
-
Long sleeves were a Tang Dynasty trend for elegance! Modern designs shorten them for practicality. Drama versions? Extra ✨drama✨, of course!

Is it okay to mix hanfu with modern accessories? Like sneakers or a denim jacket?
-
Totally! Modern hanfu styles blend tradition with casual vibes. Pair a short ruqun with boots or a belt—it’s all about creative respect!

I’m 5’2″ (158cm) and worried I’m too short for hanfu. Do they make sizes for petite people?
-
No worries! Many hanfu styles come in petite sizes. Brands often adjust lengths for shorter heights. You can also get tailoring—most pieces are customizable! ✨
