  • What accessories to wear for Hanfu at formal events?

So, I want to wear Hanfu to a wedding or a formal event, but I’m not sure what accessories are okay to add. I don’t want to look like I’m underdressed, but I also don’t want to overdo it. What’s the sweet spot for accessories—enough to stand out, but not too much that it looks out of place for a formal gathering?

Formal events call for a little extra polish, but you don’t want to go too overboard with the accessories. The key is to elevate your look without overwhelming it. Here’s what I would suggest:

    · Hairpins: A delicate hairpin can work wonders here. Choose something that matches the color of your Hanfu—like a gold or silver pin—and it’ll add that touch of elegance without being too much.

    · Necklaces and Fans: A small, understated necklace can work great, especially if you’re wearing a Hanfu with a higher collar. A fan also adds a nice traditional touch to your look. Make sure it’s not too big or bright, though—something small and simple will keep things looking elegant.

    · More decorative belt: For a formal vibe, go for a belt with a bit of decoration, like embroidery or subtle patterns. It adds a refined touch to the outfit without overcomplicating it.

Remember, for formal events, less is often more. You want your accessories to add sophistication, but you don’t want to look like you’re wearing everything all at once.

Jade pendant, silk fan—elegant vibes. Gold hair stick if you’re feeling regal!

Beaded belt, tassel necklace—formal but not overkill. Match the hanfu tone!
