  • How to Match Hanfu Accessories with My Outfit?

I’ve noticed that the color of the accessories really makes a difference when wearing hanfu. For example, gold, silver, and jade seem to go better with certain colors of hanfu. How do you decide which accessory colors to pair with your hanfu? Any tips for someone who’s still figuring it out?

Matching accessories to your hanfu requires balancing the color and tone of your outfit. If your hanfu is bold, like a deep red or gold, you’ll want accessories that complement the richness of the fabric. Gold hairpins, jade earrings, and embroidered belts are perfect for these bright colors. On the other hand, for more neutral tones like soft blues or pastels, you might want to go for more delicate, subtle accessories such as pearl earrings, silver hairpins, or light jade pieces.

If you’re wearing a darker hanfu, like black or deep green, try accessorizing with silver or crystal pieces—these will pop against the dark fabric and give your look a more sophisticated, elegant feel. Whatever accessories you choose, just remember that it’s all about harmony—make sure they enhance the hanfu without drawing too much attention away from the overall look.

Echo the hanfu—blue robe, blue beads. Contrast works too—gold on black!
