Taking care of Hanfu is a little tricky, right? How do you guys clean your Hanfu without ruining the fabric or the delicate embroidery? Do you have any tips or tricks that help keep it in good condition? I’m always worried i’ll do something wrong and mess it up. Is it really that much more complicated to care for than regular clothes?

Taking care of Hanfu is pretty easy as long as you follow a few key steps. Here’s how:

Hand wash only: Hanfu should always be hand-washed using cold water and a mild detergent. Machine washing can damage delicate fabrics, so it’s best to do this by hand. If you’re worried about colors running, wash it separately the first time.

Steam it, don’t iron it: Rather than ironing your Hanfu, use a steamer to get rid of wrinkles. The steam is gentler and won’t damage the delicate material. Ironing could risk burns or distortion.

Proper storage: When you’re not wearing your Hanfu, hang it in a garment bag in a cool, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause the fabric to fade. You can also keep it away from humidity to prevent any damage.

Taking these simple steps will help you keep your Hanfu looking as good as new for years to come.

Cold rinse, hang it up—my Mamian skirt’s chill. Toss it in the machine if it’s tough, no stress!
