  • How Do You Behave When Wearing Hanfu at an Event?

Posted by BlueLunar on February 27, 2025 at 6:42 am

I’ve noticed that some Hanfu events have a really special atmosphere, with lots of attention to detail. Are there any particular etiquette rules to follow when wearing Hanfu? For example, should I be conscious of my posture or walking style during the event? How do these small details affect the overall atmosphere of the event?

When wearing Hanfu, posture plays an important role in how you present yourself. Here are a few tips for maintaining proper posture and etiquette at Hanfu events:

Stand Tall: Hanfu is all about grace and elegance, so standing tall with a straight back is crucial. This helps you maintain the traditional poise that Hanfu represents. Be mindful of your posture throughout the event to reflect the beauty of the attire.

Walking Gracefully: When walking in Hanfu, take slow and deliberate steps. Hanfu’s flowy skirts or robes are meant to be appreciated as they move, so walking with a measured pace and graceful steps enhances the outfit’s effect.

Cultural Sensitivity: At events, always remember that Hanfu carries deep cultural significance. Respect others’ space, avoid loud conversations, and be aware of the atmosphere. It’s important to be polite and considerate of others, especially in more traditional settings.

Walk slow and majestic (no sprinting unless it’s raining). Pose gracefully—sleeve flicks are ✨everything✨

Mingle! Ask others about their outfits. ‘Which dynasty is this from?’ is the ultimate icebreaker.
