  • Do you always need hair accessories with Hanfu?

Every time I see people wearing Hanfu, they always seem to have gorgeous hair accessories—like fancy hairpins, combs, or even full headpieces. But honestly, sometimes I just don’t feel like dealing with that extra step. If I wear my Hanfu with simple, loose hair or just a basic ponytail, will it look weird? Does skipping hair accessories make the whole outfit feel incomplete? I’d love to know what others think!

Not at all! Hair accessories aren’t a must with Hanfu, especially if you’re going for a more casual look. For example, if I’m just running errands or hanging out with friends in Hanfu, I sometimes skip the hairpins or headbands and just let my natural hair flow. It still looks cute and feels laid-back without too much fuss.

But if you’re dressing up for a more special occasion, like a festival or a photo shoot, then adding a simple hairpin or headpiece can totally take your look up a notch. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy—just something subtle that ties everything together. Ultimately, it all comes down to what kind of vibe you’re going for that day! No pressure to always wear hair accessories unless you’re in the mood for it.

Nope! A sleek low bun or loose waves work. But a tiny pin adds ~authenticity~ without effort.

Bad hair day? Throw on a weimao (hat with veil). Mystery and style—win-win.
