  • Choosing the right Hanfu for everyday comfort

Posted by OceanGlow on March 2, 2025 at 1:50 pm

I love wearing Hanfu, but when it comes to wearing it for work or just going about my day, i kind of feel like it’s a hassle sometimes. Are there specific styles that are more comfortable for everyday use? Like, something that doesn’t feel too fussy, but still looks nice? I want to be able to move around comfortably and not feel like i’m in a formal gown all day.

If you’re planning on wearing Hanfu regularly, comfort is a huge factor. You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort, but here are a few things to keep in mind:

First, choose fabrics wisely. Lightweight materials like cotton or silk are comfortable and breathable for daily wear. Avoid heavy brocade fabrics, as they’re great for special occasions but a bit too much for everyday activities.

For styles, look for simpler, less layered Hanfu. Something like a ruqun or a one-piece Hanfu dress is perfect for day-to-day wear because they’re easier to move around in. You’ll want to skip styles with lots of layers or intricate detailing, as these can feel restrictive.

Don’t forget about comfort in footwear. Soft cloth shoes or sandals are usually the best options, as they’re comfortable and won’t make you feel like you’re constantly adjusting your outfit.

So, for daily wear, go with light fabrics, simple designs, and comfortable shoes to make sure you’re both stylish and relaxed.

Go for loose Ruqun or a Shenyi—light fabrics like cotton or silk are key. Skip the stiff layers, keep it simple and breezy!

I’d pick something soft and not too long—maybe a short top and skirt? Feels less like a hassle all day.

Cotton two-piece sets are my go-to—comfy and chill. Avoid heavy embroidery, it weighs you down!
