  • Choosing the right hair accessories for Hanfu without overdoing it

I love adding hair accessories to my Hanfu, but I’m always nervous about overdoing it. Like, what if it’s too fancy and takes away from the outfit? How do I pick hair accessories that add to the overall vibe without making me look like I’m wearing too much? I want to look pretty but still keep it simple and elegant!

Picking hair accessories is like picking the right makeup—it should complement, not compete. If your Hanfu is already quite intricate, I suggest going for something simple, like a small hairpin or a soft ribbon. These little details add some class, but they won’t steal the spotlight from your outfit.

For a more formal look, you can get away with something a bit fancier, like a flower pin or a small decorative comb. But the important thing is to keep everything balanced—don’t go for anything too heavy or large. Your hair accessories should feel natural with your Hanfu, like they were made to be together.

One hairpin—jade or metal—classy, not extra. Skip the crown unless it’s big!

I tried a ribbon—simple twist. Looks hanfu-y without the hassle!
