  • How to wear Hanfu while traveling without it being a hassle?

Posted by SereneDrifter on March 2, 2025 at 1:48 pm

I really want to wear Hanfu while traveling, but i’m worried it’ll be too much of a hassle. Like, how do you even pack it without everything getting wrinkled? And is it actually comfortable to walk around in all day, or will i regret it halfway through?

Also, are there certain styles that are more practical for travel? I don’t want to feel restricted or overheated, especially if i’m going somewhere warm. Any tips for making Hanfu more travel-friendly while still looking nice?

Traveling in Hanfu can sound tricky, but it’s definitely doable if you plan it right:

Packing: The key to packing Hanfu is rolling the fabric instead of folding it to prevent wrinkles. If you’re worried about delicate fabrics, use a garment bag to protect them.

Comfort: For travel, you’ll want to go for light, breathable fabrics like cotton or silk blends. These are comfortable for long days of sightseeing and won’t make you feel too hot or restricted.

Styles for travel: Stick to simpler, less bulky Hanfu designs. You don’t want anything too complicated with too many layers—keep it easy to move in.

Footwear: Choose comfortable shoes like sneakers or flats. Traditional slippers might look great but can be uncomfortable for long walks, especially if you’re doing a lot of sightseeing.

With the right fabrics and styles, Hanfu can definitely work for travel, as long as you prioritize comfort and practicality. Just make sure your outfit won’t slow you down or make you too hot while you’re on the go!

Pack light—stick to a simple Ruqun or Shenyi, easy to fold. Wear comfy layers and skip the crazy long sleeves. Hairpins over bulky headpieces, trust me!

I’d just go for a short top and skirt, nothing too flowy. Maybe roll it up in my bag? Sounds less stressful than the big robes.

Keep it basic—cross-collar top, pants, done. Toss it in a backpack, no fuss. Skip the extras unless you’re posing for pics!
