  • How to Adjust My Hanfu for a Better Fit?

I bought a hanfu recently, but it doesn’t fit as well as I hoped, especially around the waist and shoulders. The waist belt feels too loose, and the shoulder drape doesn’t sit right. Does anyone have any tips for adjusting these parts to make it fit better and look more flattering?

If your hanfu doesn’t feel like it’s fitting quite right, don’t worry—there are a few easy fixes you can try to adjust the fit and make it more comfortable.

Waistband (bi): The waistband is one of the most important parts of the hanfu, as it helps define your waist and keeps the garment in place. If your hanfu feels too loose, try tightening the waistband until it sits comfortably on your waist. If it’s too tight, you can loosen it a little to allow for more movement.

Top Fit: If the top feels too loose or too tight, you can adjust it by carefully tucking in any excess fabric or pulling it in to create a smoother, more flattering shape. Make sure the fabric sits well on your shoulders and chest, and adjust the fastening (if applicable) to fit you better.

Sleeves and Length: For the sleeves, if they’re too long, consider gently folding them up or tucking the excess into the wrist area so they don’t drag on the ground. For the length, if your hanfu is too short or too long, try adjusting the hem or adding extra fabric to extend the length. If necessary, you can even take it to a tailor for a more precise fit.

With these small adjustments, your hanfu will feel more comfortable and look much more flattering on your body.

Pin loose spots—sleeves or waist. Higher sash for length, lower for chill vibes!
