Whenever I wear Hanfu out, I often get the feeling that people don’t really understand what I’m wearing. It’s like they don’t know what it is or don’t recognize it as a traditional outfit. I’ve definitely gotten some strange looks when I’ve worn Hanfu in public, and that’s totally normal. Honestly, the best thing you can do is stay confident and embrace it. People might stare out of curiosity, but most are just intrigued by how beautiful the outfit is. It’s also important to remember that Hanfu is a rare sight, so it can feel unfamiliar to some people. Over time, I’ve learned to take it all in stride.
If you feel uncomfortable, just remind yourself that your outfit has deep cultural meaning and that you’re not just wearing clothes—you’re wearing history. In the end, you’re showing pride in your culture, and that’s something to be proud of.
