  • How Do I Clean and Care for Delicate Hanfu Fabrics?

Posted by SilentStorm on February 26, 2025 at 12:22 pm

Hanfu fabrics, especially silk, are really delicate, and washing them seems like a hassle. How do you all clean your Hanfu? I’ve tried hand-washing, but I’m worried about fading or damaging the fabric. Any tips to keep them clean without harming the material?

For delicate fabrics like silk, the best method is to hand wash with cold water and mild detergent, or even use a gentle fabric cleaner. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric, as this can cause damage. If you’re worried about fading, consider spot cleaning with a damp cloth. Dry cleaning is also a safe option for preserving the quality of the fabric. Always air-dry your Hanfu flat or hang it in a shaded area to avoid direct sunlight, which can cause fading.

Hand wash ONLY. Pretend your washing machine is a dragon—stay far away. Lukewarm water, mild detergent, gentle hands.

Dry flat! Hanging silk = stretched-out regrets. Lay it on a towel, reshape, and let it air-dry like a fancy napkin.
